As previously noted, Affirmative Repositioning leader Amupanda would not admit that AR aimed to become a political party, at first — and even up to mid-August 2024 was still mincing his words about ‘transition’’, although he admitted they were compelled by the ambition for “"state power” to register with the Electoral Commission (ECN) to be able to compete in the upcoming election, so they had to clear a number of serious hurdles to get the certificate.
Yet Job claimed they operated without such ECN certificate.
“We do what we do without a registration certificate. The certificate [as a political party] came in June”,
It may seem a small matter but it is surely a problem if a professor contradicts himself from one sentence to the next, for how can you say you have been operating without an ECN certificate, and in the next sentence say you have such a certificate,? meaning you have in fact been operating with one, and not “doing without it”.
Either you operate with an ECN certificate or without, but it is surely broken logic to say “We do without it,” AND we have got it, because you are clearly NOT “doing without it.” Otherwise why even bother to go through all the effort to get it?
Although it is one of his less egregious lies, we can see by the strength of his own admission and counter-evidence to his own claim that they operated without ECN clearance, conclude that it is a lie to say AR were able to operate and “do without it”.
No group, no matter how large or small, would be allowed to participate as a certified party in the 2024 elections to run for parliament or the presidency without ECN clearance. Secondly, why register as a party for the purposes if they did not want to be a party, as previously stated, or if they could to “do without” it?
Legally speaking
The fact is without ECN certification AR would not exist or be allowed to operate — legally speaking — or be allowed to compete for the electoral prize and those cozy seats. It was therefore not something they could “do without”, as Job claimed in his rambling interview with Future Media, but an imperative and legal necessity.
Do drivers go around thinking they don’t need a license to operate? No, even if stashed away, everyone knows they need that license to certify that they may drive on public roads. So too, in terms of the electoral law, our dear UNAM politics professor would know one cannot operate as a party in the main elections without ECN accreditation — that is only granted after meeting certain criteria.
Therefore, it was simply another lie by Job Amupanda to say that AR were “doing without it” since they made a point to go through all the effort get it.
